The Government Transformation Programme (GTP) was introduced by the Prime Minister, Y.A.B Dato' Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak on 28 January 2010. There are six National Key Result Areas (NKRAs) in the GTP based on the rakyat most pressing concerns. These are Reducing Crime, Fighting Corruption, Improving Student Performance, Raising Living Standards of Low-Income Households, Improving Rural Basic Infrastructure and Improving Urban Public Transport. This entire programme is based on the premise of the Government commitment to People First, Performance Now under 1Malaysia.
NKRA Reducing Crime is led by the Ministry of Home Affairs which covers the end-to-end process of fighting crime, namely crime prevention, crime tracking and arrest, trial of offenders, as well as prison and rehabilitation. In addition, it aims to improve public perception and to increase service delivery by PDRM. The NKRA Division was formed at the end of 2009 to plan, prepare, coordinate and monitor the implementation of initiatives NKRA Reducing Crime.
