1.    BACKGROUND

Innovation Award Competition, Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA) aims to give formal recognition to the Department/Agency and Division under the Ministry who have successfully introduced new ideas to improve service quality. Innovation Award Competition is held in conjunction with the MOHA’s Innovation Day.

I)    DEFINITION

a)    Innovation is a method to find a way to produce a product or service that much better either through renovations or improvements. It is the brainchild of creative ideas and innovative in any aspect of work that can improve the quality and productivity of the organization.

b)    These ideas could include any changes in systems and procedures, methods and ways of working as well as the introduction of technology.

II)    OBJECTIVES

a)    To encourage healthy competition between departments and divisions to introduce more innovation;

b)    To give recognition to the innovations introduced by the Department and the Division under the Ministry of Home Affairs;

c)    To foster and culture of creative and innovative ways of best working practices;

d)    To introduce and disseminate the results of exemplary innovation for the benefit of other agencies; and

e)    To contribute to the improvement of the quality of service delivery to customers.
